Breaking Boundaries ‘10 – Meet Randy
My name is Randy Frehse and I am poly.
I am 35 years old and live in the frozen north of Minneapolis with my wife of 16 years and her two other partners. When not helping to steer the good ship Modern Poly I am a home health care aide for the elderly and terminally ill. I’m an uber-geek who spends most of my free time tinkering with tabletop RPGs and writing code for computer games.
I have been living a poly lifestyle for the past five years or so, longer then I knew the term existed. I have been on the council of the local poly organization for the last three years and spend most of my summer running outreach booths at local festivals and events to increase the visibility and understand of polyamory.
I became involved with the creation of Modern Poly because I think the time has come for a true poly movement. Poly is becoming more visible in the wider world and if we don’t control the image of us that is created someone else will do it for us and I guarantee we won’t like the results. There are people across the country working on a local level just like I am. The job now is to bring us all together and take advantage of the strength of numbers. We’ve done a good job in the few months that we have been operating at contacting people through the web but nothing beats real face to face interaction. That’s why I want to go to this conference. Loving More has created an opportunity for all the movers and shakers, both big and small, to really get to know each other and build those networks of contacts that are going to be so necessary for the future. I don’t want to miss out.
It has to start somewhere
It has to start sometime
What better place then here
What better time then now.
