My name is Ashe. I'm 24 years old and live in Milwaukee, WI, my residence bouncing back and forth between my two partners. I am a technophile and am actively involved in the Milwaukee tech community - meetings, unconferences, and other networking events. I am passionate about sex-positive-(re)education, gender/sexuality studies, and sociology. In my (very small amount of) free time, I knit crazy things like scarves that look like octopus tentacles and search out small independent musicians to rock out to. I pride myself in my snarky, sarcastic wit and love that quality in other people.
I currently co-direct the Young Milwaukee Poly group as well as maintain ComingOutPoly.com. I have spoken at colleges and conferences about polyamory and ethical monogamy. I believe that our mission as poly people is to get the word out there about what poly is and isn't to help normalize our lifestyles. I like to encourage people to get comfortable with themselves enough to come out to their friends and loved ones because it really helps society see that there are poly people every where of every shape, size, color, and lifestyle.
This would be my very first PLN event. Loving More has a very special place in the poly community. They have pulled together a very large, diverse community of people from all over. The PLN conference showcases that diversity. I'm excited to get together with other people that are passionate about poly activism and the ideas they have for furthering poly's role in society. We really have an excellent opportunity to mobilize as a large community and I'd love to be a part of that.
I'd love to help Loving More out in any way that they needed. I think that as someone who interacts first hand with a lot of the younger/questioning age bracket that is still trying to decide what they want their relationships to look like, I can give a lot of fresh insight into how that community needs to be fostered with education and support.
